Bladder conditions

Ongoing bladder issues can be overwhelming and affect every aspect of a woman's life; I know, I've been there and the experience led me to specialise in this area of women's health.

I support women struggling with chronic UTIs, cystitis, recurring UTIs, painful bladder syndrome, interstitial cystitis (IC) and any other undiagnosed or poorly understood bladder symptoms.

Often, traditional healthcare options can be disappointing in this area; with testing being suboptimal and little else except for antibiotics as treatment. GPs don't tend to investigate the root cause of bladder symptoms, leaving those with recurring or chronic issues stuck for answers or long term relief. Sound familiar?

I run bladder microbiome testing for clients, which can give great insight for those suffering. And these results can be particularly insightful for those with IC or painful bladder syndrome, who may have been told there is no infection when in fact there may be a microbial imbalance.

Read more about the bladder microbiome here on my blog: The bladder microbiome (no, the bladder isn't sterile).

I work with clients who may be taking long term medications under the guidance of a healthcare provider; or have come off these meds. One of my main focuses with all clients is ensuring the microbial balance is supported across all areas of the body, including the gut, vagina and bladder (the vagina and gut can be a source of pathogenic bacteria for the bladder). And a healthy gut is so fundamental to other aspects of health.

I take a holistic approach when working with clients, addressing many areas of health with a view to optimising, including: hormones, immunity, microbiome health, nervous system support, nutrient intake, food intolerances/sensitivities, inflammation etc. I also consider the nature of embedded infections or infection with biofilm in my tailored plan.

With bladder conditions, change doesn't happen overnight unfortunately, however, I thoroughly assess the drivers of a client's condition and suggest interventions which should slowly bring back balance to the body and reduce symptoms / help clients manage symptoms better.

I offer a 20 minute complementary chat to find out more about working with me. Why not book a call?

My Approach

I take a whole person view when supporting a woman's health. Our body doesn't operate as distinct entities; everything is connected. With thorough case taking, delving into symptoms, health history, test results, lifestyle and diet, I investigate why the body may be out of balance and displaying said symptoms. You may be surprised how much we can piece together simply by asking the right questions and taking time to talk!

When creating a plan for a client, I am looking to bring the body back into balance. As the image shows, there are numerous aspects of health we can influence and optimise with diet and supplements, and my job is recommending the right combination for the person in front of me. This is what I have trained to do and is often much better than spending hundreds of pounds on miracle cures which don't give long term solutions.

No more UTIs and better overall health

I haven't had any further UTIs and have braved penetrative sex a couple of times, using the regime you recommended. We have made a number of the dietary changes you recommended and I feel I am eating a much richer, broader diet.

I generally feel much more energetic and switched on. I made it back to my hit class last week for the first time in months and felt good.

So all in all, it feels like a more positive picture especially for this time of year.  I really appreciate the support you have provided to date.  For the first time really ever, I feel like someone has considered my health holistically and listened to my concerns. It means a huge amount!

Significant improvement in bladder issues (Interstitial cystitis)

I met Jessica nearly a year ago now. I had long-standing bladder issues (interstitial cystitis) and was fortunate to have been recommended to Jessica for help. A few things have stood out over the months we've known each other. First, Jessica's genuine passion and commitment to helping. She truly cares, and that was one of the most important things to me, given that I had seen other practitioners in the past who dismissed or downplayed what I was telling them. Second, she's incredibly knowledgeable and knows her stuff.  Third, she understands the importance of calming down flares while trying to dig deeper into the root cause of why they keep occurring. With Jessica's guidance, I've tried a few different approaches. I'm not 100% free of symptoms yet, but I'm finally on the right path to getting my health back on track and have seen significant improvements in my symptoms.

I’m pretty much back to full health

Earlier this year I had a urinary tract infection which persisted in spite of taking 4 rounds of antibiotics. I was feeling very unwell and anxious. I contacted Jessica and she was very empathetic and caring and created me a health plan to manage and recover from the persistent UTI symptoms I was experiencing.

I really believed in the plan; I took some supplements and made dietary changes which really improved my health and I’m delighted to say that 4 months after contacting Jessica I’m pretty much back to full health. Jessica is very knowledgeable and was very interested in my overall health and I’ve learned so much about nutrition which I feel will benefit my health moving forwards. I’m very grateful that my found Jessica to work with and I would highly recommend her.

The tests helped me understand what the cause of my UTI could be

I started working with Jess a few months ago as I was persistently getting a UTI after having sex. I really didn't want to have to keep taking antibiotics, and I had tried various supplements to try and help which sadly didn't work.

I was frustrated about it all, and it was getting me down. Jess was not only hugely informative from the start, but also kind, empathetic and understanding - and wanted to find out what the route cause might be.

With guidance from Jess, I decided to do both a vaginal and bladder microbiome test - which really helped me understand what the cause of my UTI could be (Jess also thoroughly talked me through all of my results) which standard NHS urine tests were not providing me with. I also learnt a lot about other supplements which I could take to help me (and the doses associated with these), as well as diet and how this would help me in the long term.

I (fingers crossed) appear to have turned a corner over the last few weeks, so not only am I delighted about that but I have also learnt a lot which I can take forward in my everyday life. Thank you Jess!
